Pulau Ubin Seafood Raid

Due to whatever reasons, I was not able to sleep well last night as I tossed and turned in bed. This morning, when my alarm rang at 6.30am, imagine the fight I had to go through to get up. Afterall, it will be another long day ahead. While navigating to the hawker that I am suppose to meet Kops21 and Roentgen, I came across a low boulder wall. So tempting ... arms and legs started to itch. 10mins late, Kops21 and Roentgen already bought Nasi Lemak and coffee for our carbo loading. You can always count on these two for good food recommendations.

Once done and following Kops21's Fast and Furious machine, we arrived at the meeting point (WaterCross) to link up with a group from twodegreesnorth. Folks from WaterCross just got started for their day, we took several shots of the Pasir Ris beach before most of the kayakers came. We processed our rental at front counter of PA with Roentgen's fav This-is-not-how-you-enter-a-salom mentor. Cool! Today, I will be testing my new water resistant 5L bag too! With everyone ready and launched out, we hanged around the area for a while, waiting for some kayakers who were late. Ohh.....

Roentgen's kayak looks a little different. It has a rudder! A sea touring kayak - yellow color!! Nice! Thanks to Roentgen too! He pointed out to the sky where the sun was partially blocked by the clouds, created rays of light and provided a photography opportunity as I fumbled for my camera. Enough of waiting, the organiser for this trip made a decision to move out. 13 of us paddle straight for Pulau Ubin against some resistance from sea current. Since crossing of channels have to quick, we moved in packs - close together.

Mid day, we beach up at Pulau Ubin (near the jetty) for our well deserve lunch. Just after we finished our food, a batch of kayakers came (late this morning). We walked around and some had coconut juice while those kayakers who arrived were having their lunch. With most of them ready, we took a last toilet break before launching out to sea.

This time, while moving back, things got a little more exciting. There were several bum boats heading towards mainland and that create several opportunities for us to cut incoming waves like surfers! Yeehaaaa!! By this time, I can't help but notice Roentgen's effortless paddle. Most of us were even wriggling our toes just to make our kayaks go straight. Roentgen's kayak? Direct azimuth! Left with a last channel to cross .. *phew* .. we made a dash for it. Reaching the shores of Pasir Ris again, most looked tired and hurried to wash the equipment before bathing. Thanks everyone for the great company today!

We had some old school ice-cream with wafers after this morning's workout. Hmm.. soul food. Next, we went to attend TLR and Fd's wedding. Congrats, guys!!

I had a dinner appointment with Kitty, KittyTrainer, BBElle and some friends. Buffet... burpp... I (part-time nanny) played peek-a-boo with BBElle most of the time and she was enjoying it.

Drats ... I forgot to try Roentgen's Storm Sea Touring Kayak....
